The Seattle Collegian is a student-run newspaper of Seattle Central College. The website was launched in 2018. I joined the team in 2020 and was the first Web Manager to systemize web manager roles, make tutorials, reduced the site weight by 50%, and improve user experience. I also analyzed web analytics, suggested article trends, and trained the new Web Manager.

The Green Marketing Academy teaches about green marketing strategies for small businesses. I built the GMA course sales page on WordPress to reduce the page’s carbon emissions. The sales page became 71% less carbon-heavy than the previous Squarespace page.

This is a WordPress theme development project and it’s a part of my schoolwork. I used this theme to create my 2021 portfolio. The portfolio is blog-type and responsive to all devices. This project taught me about the core WordPress components and the processes needed to create a WordPress theme from scratch.

Gift Tanakan Blog

My blog, built in 2018, is where I have written about my growth, interests, and passion over the years. It’s also a playground to practice my WordPress skills. In 2022, I improved the web’s sustainability by moving from Dreamhost to Krystal and optimizing media. As a result, the site turned from “dirtier than 64% of web pages tested” to “cleaner than 82% of web pages tested.”

Out of the Box E-commerce Test Website

Out of the Box is a refill store selling home goods and personal care products out of a van in the Seattle eastside areas. Here’s how I built an e-commerce test site for the store where the homepage is 87% less carbon-heavy and the shop page weight was reduced by 69% of the store’s current Wix site.
