Project Overview:
I fixed the website speed issue for Amigo Gutters where the browser looked for missing files and blocked other elements to load. Amigo Gutters offers full gutter services for businesses and residents in the greater Seattle area.

Introduction:
I worked with Paz, my friend who attended the same certificate program at the University of Washington and she runs the Amigo Gutters website for Tomas, her husband. She reached out to me about the site’s slow loading problem (it took almost 10 seconds to load) and she needed it fixed.
Goal:
Resolve the website speed issue.
Assumption:
The website was unoptimized, had large media files, and possibly no caching plugin.
Troubleshoot plan:
- Inspect media on the site.
- Optimize media by compressing, resizing, and lazy-loading.
- Improve site speed by setting up a caching plugin.
Finding & troubleshooting:
- Finding: Based on the Chrome developer tool, I found two missing Elementor CSS files blocking other elements from loading. However, PageSpeed Insights analyzed that the header image was too large (but the file size was less than 100 KB).
- Troubleshooting: I did online research and was suggested to fix the missing files and that the header image was not the problem. Therefore, I added the new files to replace the missing ones.
Final result after the troubleshooting:
Once the browser found everything it looked for, the site speed was back to normal. It took less than 3 seconds to load.
